One of the lady’s wand is no longer in her hands, and she’s turned away from it. Immediately after we see those naked overweight ladies playing dead. It insinuates that at one point our life too will become stodgy like that slow moving traffic, and then (cars have now stopped) eventually stop. One of the roads shows a suburban lane where the traffic movement is really slow.
Life goes on, nay, it trundles down different lanes choosing one path or the other. Then we see an image of a bustling highway in Nocturnal Animals, implying the urban life, trying to connect the dots about how we choose to embrace that idea as time flies. Their idea of happy is breaking all the rules that we have learned to live with. Some of them are leering at you. They are happy with their body even though it’s a contrasting image of what our society has imagined for us. They seemed to have shed our very idea of shame in things we consider shameful, and they are simply enjoying it. Their flab’s dancing all around their body along with them.

The movie starts with a quite unusual scene which you don’t normally find many directors attempting these days. So what is it? Without wasting any more time let’s begin this journey of awesomeness, shall we? Nocturnal Animals Plot Analysis (Spoilers Ahead) Seems like a very straightforward tale but really, there is something deep going on here. It’s beautifully done and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. Nocturnal Animals movie ends in a way so as to leave you speculating. Yes, there is art laid out in the form of poetry and if you pay attention enough you would begin to appreciate the stories they tell. It is an outstanding avant-garde flick that is more art than cinema. I can’t wait to see what Tom Ford has up his perfectly tailored sleeve next because whatever it is, I’ll be there.Speechless! Nocturnal Animals would render you dumbstruck. As Edward says, “If I write it down, it will last forever.” With his manuscript, he’s expelled all of his love and pain and anger onto his alter ego in the story. This film spoke to me not only as a lover of cinema, but as a writer. Run the orange peel over the rim of the glass, and drop in the drink. Pour bourbon over large ice cubes in a rocks glass, and add the simple syrup and bitters. While viewing Nocturnal Animals, I recommend drinking an Old Fashioned Texan.Ģ oz Red Handed Bourbon (from Treaty Oak distillery in Dripping Springs, TX) Watching Michael Shannon’s character step over dusty scrub brush is like watching the sheriff in an old John Wayne film. Texas is such a strong presence in this film, simultaneously the dangerous setting of Edward’s story and also the real-life setting of his failed marriage. Aaron Taylor Johnson and cinema MVP Michael Shannon round out the cast in Nocturnal Animals’ movie-within-a-movie, in which every scene of West Texas hell looks like a painting. Jake Gyllenhaal is quickly becoming an actor I will watch in just about anything, and he’s perfect as both the fragile writer, and tortured subject of his own story. The film simultaneously tells the story of their doomed young marriage, and Edward’s reactionary revenge manuscript. Amy Adams is cold and distant as the wealthy art gallery owner, startled by a ghost from her past in the form of a manuscript written by her ex-husband Edward.
But then, all became clear as the beautiful people wearing beautiful Tom Ford clothes came on the screen. My confusion and revulsion over the opening sequence (to quote my husband, “What the f*ck are you watching?”) made me wonder what I’d gotten myself into. Sometimes hard to watch, but nevertheless hypnotic, this is a film that stays with the viewer long after it’s over. From the shocking opening credits to the final drink in a hip Los Angeles restaurant, I found myself mesmerized by the visual storytelling. I can think of no better phrase to sum up the stunning Tom Ford film Nocturnal Animals ( DVD/ Download).
